Week TWO

How 'Home' Has Changed Over Time

From the analysis of the two prescribed readings by the authors Porteous and Mallet, the understanding of the word or idea of 'Home' has changed quite significantly. Porteous approaches 'Home' as more of a physical object. with defined spaces and the conceptual idea of a personal and private space. Mallett explores more the philosophical ideas behind 'Home' and the meaning of 'House' contrasted against 'Home'. Where the House is more of the physical entity that provides individuals with a dwelling and Home is where an individual or people develop their own identity.
